In order to comply with the requirement under the Implementing Recommendations of the 9/11 Commission Act of 2007, Public Law 110-53, that a report be prepared for Congress that provides "a vulnerability assessment of the Nation’s critical communications and information systems infrastructure" and evaluates the "technical feasibility of creating a back-up emergency communications system that complements existing communications resources and takes into account next generation and advanced communications technologies," it is necessary for the Commission to conduct an information collection to complete its analysis for the Congress.
The Implementing Recommendations of the 9/11 Commission Act of 2007 (Act), Public Law 110-53, mandates that the FCC “conduct a vulnerability assessment of the Nation’s critical communications and information infrastructure” and “evaluate the technical feasibility of creating a back-up emergency communications system that complements existing communications resources and takes into account next generation and advanced communications technologies.” The FCC must submit a report of its findings to Congress not later than 180 days after the date of enactment of the Act (since the Act was enacted on August 3, 2007, the report will be due to Congress on January 30, 2008).
