Abstract: This information collection, Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Control No.: 0402, includes application instructions for research and enhancement permits. This information collection applies to protected species for which the National Marine Fisheries Service (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Fisheries) is responsible, including the Pacific salmon and steelhead protected by the Endangered Species Act of 1973 (16 U.S.C. 1531 et seq.; ESA). Proposed Change: The NOAA Fisheries, Office of Protected Resources Permits, Conservation and Education Division (Permits Division) is the lead office adding an on-line application system known as APPS (Authorizations and Permits for Protected Species) for application instructions for research and enhancement permits for marine mammals, Pacific salmon, and other threatened and endangered species under the Marine Mammal Protection Act and ESA. This system incorporates these OMB-approved (OMB Control No.: 0402) salmon permit applications processed in the NOAA Fisheries Northwest and Southwest Regions.
