Data collected from office-based
physicians, and community health center providers, concerning
patient visits are aggregated to national statistics. The data are
used by the public and private sectors for public health planning,
medical education, health manpower assessment, epidemiologic
studies, and other medical care utilization and health policy
research.
In 2008 additional physicians
will be sampled and surveyed on use of electronic records. There
will be no additional questions added to the previously approved
instrument. The burden hours will not be increased, as 200
oncologist will be removed from the full NAMCS, as they are
considered outside of the scope of the study. In order to begin
this process the program is submitting the request as a change and
will work to incorporate this information as well as any additional
changes in the revision package that will be submitted by the end
of this year for extension.
