The SAR is used to notify FAFSA applicants of their eligibility to receive federal student aid under the student financial assistance programs authorized under the Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended, and provide an opportunity for applicants to correct or update the information they provided on their FAFSA.

There has been an increase in customers correcting FAFSA information via the SAR. Note the increase in FAFSA customers (as evidenced by the 2008-2009 FAFSA submission approved 7/6/07). Additionally, there has been some re-evaluation of the time necessary for both the burden and response estimates to try to align them better with the actual rates. The program change of 280, 417 reflects the burden hour changes for these various changes.
