Institutions of higher education make Perkins loans. Information is necessary in order to monitor a school's reimbursement to its Perkins loan revolving fund, monitor how collection costs are charged to borrowers on rehabilitated loans and to monitor the assignment of defaulted Perkins loans to the Department. This revision is a request for approval of reporting and recordkeeping requirements contained in the final regulations are related to the administrative requirements of the Perkins Loan Program.

The increase in burden hours is due to regulatory changes (brought about by negotiated rulemaking) in the administrative requirements contained in the final regulations of the Perkins Loan Program. NOTE: The slight difference in the burden hour and response numbers - between the Excel sheet and Rocis are due to rounding issues as well as differences caused by breaking down the IC's into affected entities in ROCIS - rather than by individual CFR part within the entities.
