The United States General Mining Laws, as amended, give individuals the right to search for and extract valuable mineral deposits, and secure title to the lands involved. The Forest Service is proposing a revision to 36 CFR 228, Subpart A, entitled Bonded Notice at 36 CFR 228.5. The information collected is identical to the Plan of Operation approved under 0596-0022 except the Bonded Notice requirement will only apply to operations with a duration of two years or less, affecting only five acres or less.
