Abstract: The NDAA for FY 2007, Section 546 (PL 109-364), directs the Secretary of Defense to conduct a test of the utility of test preparation guides in enhancing recruit candidate performance on the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB). The ASVAB is a cognitive ability test used to select and classify applicants into the US Military. This information data collection is needed to adequately assess the benefit of ASVAB test preparation on ASVAB test scores.

Emergency Justfication: The DoD cannot reasonably comply with the normal clearance procedures since such compliance would delay compliance with section 546 of the National Defense Authorization Act for FY 2007 (PL 109-364). The use of normal procedures is likely to prevent or disrupt the collection of the information. See attached Determination Statement for additional information.
