Under provisions of Section 204 of the
Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act, foreign
fishing vessels may be authorized to conduct fishing activities in
United States (U.S.) waters. Vessels so authorized are required to
display vessel identification and to mark any fishing gear not
physically and continuously attached to the vessel to make it
possible for enforcement personnel to monitor fishing, at-sea
processing, and other related activities to ascertain whether a
vessel's observed activities are in accordance with those
authorized for that vessel.
PL:
Pub.L. 94 - 265 204 Name of Law: Magnuson-Stevens Fishery
Conservation and Management Act as amended in 2006
Due to decreased foreign
fishing activity, estimated number of vessels, responses and hours
have decreased by 3 each, for vessel identification. A placeholder
of one vessel, response and hour each has been added for gear
marking.
