The data requested on this form are used to prepare official estimates of sugarbeet acreage, yield, production and sucrose content at county, state and national levels. At the end of the season, state and national average prices are published. Response is voluntary and not required by law. However, cooperation is extremely important in compiling accurate, reliable statistics on sugarbeets. All individual reports are kept confidential.

This same form is used three times a year as follows:

DECEMBER - The first use of this form in December provides basic data for the sugarbeet estimates in the Annual Crop Production Summary in mid-January. County totals are optional in December. However, if preliminary county totals are available, it is helpful to have the data. The following estimates are published from the December inquiry: State and U.S. acreage, yield, and production.

APRIL - This form is used a second time in April after much of the processing has been completed. County totals are needed on this report to compile official county estimates on acreage, yield, production, and sucrose content. Whether or not preliminary county totals were entered on the December report, final data should be entered in the April column. Updated acreage, yield and production statistics for each state are published in the June Crop Production report.

NOVEMBER - This form is used a third time in November for your final review and update of any acreage, production, and sucrose content data previously submitted. In addition, the prices paid to growers are also requested. Price per ton and value of production by state are published for the first time. All previously published acreage, yield and production data will be reviewed and updated at this time.

INSTRUCTIONS

The 2006 sugarbeet crop includes beets planted in the Spring of 2006 and harvested in the Fall of 2006.

1. Report for each factory separately.

2. Report all data for the state and county in which the beets are actually grown.

3. If county data are not available in December, report state data only and include county data in April and November.

4. Please provide estimates where final data may not be available.

5. For April and November, enter (X) in cells if data are unchanged from a previous report or enter revised data.
