Rule 17f-c(2) permits entities required to submit fingerprints pursuant to Section 17f-2 of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 to submit such fingerprints to a national securities exchange or national securities association to collect, process, and forward fingerprint cards to the U.S. Attorney General's designee. This process is efficient and effective because the government receives batches of cards from a limited number of sources instead of thousands of submitting institutions.
