On behalf of the National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS), I would like to thank you for your correspondence and suggestions regarding the Notice of Intent to Seek Approval to Conduct an Information Collection.
As a result of deficient funding we regret to inform you that the 2008 On-Farm Renewable Energy Production Survey will not be conducted. We made great strides in identifying a target population and developing a viable questionnaire. These efforts will serve us well if we proceed with a data collection effort in the future. NASS understands the importance of renewable energy policies in the agriculture and global communities and stands ready to produce timely, accurate, and usable statistics.
Industry input is encouraged throughout NASS programs, specifically the Census Follow-on surveys. Your knowledge of this sector within the agriculture industry is clear. Your comments will be used if proper funding becomes available.
