The National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) requests approval for a substantial change to incorporate the RMA Organic Price Survey into the existing Organic Survey Information Collection Request (ICR). The ICR is being renamed Organic Production and Price Surveys to accurately reflect the inclusion of both surveys. The Census of Agriculture followâon Organic Survey remains mandatory for the obligation to respond, while the RMA Organic Price Survey is voluntary. The Information Collection list has been updated accordingly to reflect these changes. Additional background on this substantive change is provided in the document â0249 Organic Production and Price Surveys OMB Memo on Substantive Change 07-22-2026.docx,â which has been uploaded to ROCIS under ICR Documents.

The program changes and adjustments in burden result from two updates to the Information Collection. First, NASS added the voluntary RMA Organic Price Survey to the Organic Production and Price Surveys ICR. This addition increases total respondent burden by 15,077 hours and total responses by 92,610. Second, cognitive testing activities were removed from the mandatory Organic Survey Census followâon Information Collection and placed into a separate voluntary collection, reducing that componentâs burden by 50 hours. The net change in burden reflects the combined effect of adding the new voluntary survey and removing cognitive testing from the Census followâon survey.
