The collection of information is vital
to Rural Development to make wise decisions regarding the
eligibility of projects and borrowers in order to ensure compliance
with the regulations and to ensure that the funds obtained from the
Government are used appropriately (i.e., being used for the
purposes for which the guaranteed loans were awarded).
This action is mandated
by Congress under the 2008 Farm Bill and further directed to be
implemented as soon as possible in Fiscal Year (FY) 2009 and
directs the Secretary of Agriculture to make available $75 million
in budget authority for loan guarantees in FY 2009.
