In accordance
with 5 CFR 1320, the information is approved for three years. As
part of its next request to extend approval, USDA must confirm the
accuracy of the burden estimates and provide better estimates of
whether the burden is associated with recordkeeping or with third
party disclosure by actively conducting outreach to the regulated
community. As part of this effort, USDA should also consider
whether burden can be reduced or otherwise minimized. To the extent
that any of the information associated with fish and shellfish was
required to be disclosed prior to this approval, the agency must
report this to OMB as a violation (in use without OMB number) for
its annual report to Congress (ICB)

To notify consumers of the country of
origin of muscle cuts of beef (including veal), lamb, chicken,
goat, and pork; ground beef, ground lamb, ground chicken, ground
goat, and ground pork; wild and farm-raised fish and shellfish;
perishable agricultural commodities; macadamia nuts; pecans;
ginseng; and peanuts.
The only changes from the IFR
to the final rule are increases in the number of establishments and
firms to reflect the addition and updating of fish and shellfish
information.
