Owners and operators of certain waterfront facilities and vessels. |

This information helps ensure that waterfront facilities and vessels are in compliance with safety standards. A permit must be issued prior to welding or hot work on certain waterfront facilities; and, the posting of warning signs is required on certain such facilities. |

When must information be submitted to the Coast Guard? |
Terminals and vessels report their hot work or welding operations at least 24 hours before the hot work operations begin. |
How is the information submitted? |
The information is submitted using form CG-4201 to the Coast Guard (CG) Captain of the Port. The form is available at— http://www.uscg.mil/forms/cg/CG_4201.pdf. |
What happens when complete information is received? |
The CG reviews the information, and if it conforms with the regulations, issues a permit to the applicant. |
