This information collected here helps
to ensure that waterfront facilities and vessels are in compliance
with safety standards. A permit must be issued prior to welding or
hot work on certain waterfront facilities; and, the posting of
warning signs is required on certain such facilities. The statutory
authority is 46 U.S.C. 70034 (formerly 33 U.S.C. 1231) and Chapter
701 of Title 46. This authority is delegated by the Secretary to
the Coast Guard via the Department of Homeland Security Delegation
No. 0170.1, Revision No. 01.2. (II)(70).
The change in the burden is an
ADJUSTMENT due to a change (i.e., increase) in the estimated annual
number of responses. There is no proposed change to the reporting
or recordkeeping requirements of this collection. The reporting and
recordkeeping requirements, and the methodology for calculating
burden, remain unchanged.
