The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) collects information from respondents for free use permits for vegetative or mineral materials to: (1) determine whether the vegetative or mineral materials qualify for free use; (2) determine if disposal is consistent with local land use plans and authorities; (3) ensure that the appropriate BLM office issues the permit; and (4) monitor and assess the use or authorized removals of vegetative and mineral materials to ensure sustainable resource management.
