NASA can re-submit this ICR without undertaking an additional 60 day review if the following items are addressed.
1. Revise the supporting statement to have a clear statement about the scope of this as a generic clearance and how it will work.
2. NASA states in A.10 that survey invitations will include a statement on anonymity and confidentiality. These are not the same thing. We need copies of what the invitations. Also they need to provide their statutory authority for any confidentiality pledgeÂthey should probably just refer to this as an anonymous collection if that is what it is.
3. To use these questions for different statutes, NASA is proposing to change Âgender to Ârace, color and/or national origin. It is not clear why they are proposing to use the term Âcolor instead of Âethnicity.Â
4. NASA should carefully consider the information they are going to get in response to open-ended Âother specify response options. Respondents could provide very specific and personal information that could end up identifying them or others. One of the most problematic is the follow-up to Question 19. e., which asks respondents to ÂPlease specify who the ÂOther individual is. This appears to be asking for a specific person rather than the other response options that refer to faculty or students.

NASA Office of Diversity and Equal Opportunity will complete five Congressionally and/or regulatory mandated compliance reviews each year on grantees receiving NASA funds (Title IX (2 reviews), Title VI, Section 504, and Age Discrimination Act). Reviews include collecting archival data, on-site observation, interviews, and surveys of grantee staff, faculty, or graduate students. Surveys are the only way to adequately identify if the environment is free of discrimination and/or harassment.
