The Rail Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (P.L. 110-432) calls for a track inspection time study to be performed by FRA and a report made to Congress upon completion. The information to be collected will be used to document and characterize various aspects of track inspection, and study findings may be used as the basis for regulations to imrove railroad safety.
