This survey will obtain quarterly
sample data on transactions between U.S. and foreign persons in
intangible assets and services transactions. The data are needed,
among other purposes, to support U.S. trade policy initiatives,
including trade negotiations, and to compile the U.S. international
transactions and the national income and product accounts.
The increase in burden is
two-fold. First, the number of respondents to the survey is greater
then when the survey was first approved by OMB. This is the first
renewal since the initial survey was conducted. Second, the burden
now includes all companies that respond. In the past burden was
calculated for companies that filed the survey on a mandatory basis
only. For these two reasons BEA has adjusted the annual burden
hours for the survey.
