Participants in the
federally-regulated fisheries in the Exclusive Economic Zone of the
South Atlantic, Gulf of Mexico, and Caribbean are required to
obtain federal permits under the existing permit program for the
specific Fishery Management Plans of each region. National Oceanic
and Atmospheric Administration, National Marine Fisheries Service
(NOAA Fisheries Service) needs information from the applications
and associated data collections to identify fishing
vessels/dealers/ participants, properly manage the fisheries, and
generate fishery-specific data. New items: document providing
complete owner list, if not listed on state registration, and
provision of existing permit numbers, on the permit form for
fisheries in the Exclusive Economic Zone. In the checklist for
requesting permits, in the 0648-0205 Federal Permit Application for
Vessels Fishing in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), open access
permit name has been changed and an associated endorsement has been
renamed as a limited access permit, both name changes to more
clearly reflect the types of shrimp. In addition, a checkbox for an
Atlantic Tuna Longline permit has been added to the Limited Access
Permit list. This checkbox will be removed from the applicable form
under OMB Control No. 0648-0327, once this change request is
approved. There are no changes to the burdens.
