The amendments in Release No. 33-8995 modernize and update the oil and gas disclosure requirements to align them with current practices and changes in technology. The increase in the burden associated with Form F-1 is necessary in order to provide investors with a more meaningful and comprehensive understanding of oil and gas reserves, which should help investors evaluate the relative value of oil and gas companies. The proposal will result in an increase of 75 burden hours and an increase in the cost burden of $90,000 for services of outside professionals. For a more detailed discussion, please refer to the supporting statement.
