Addendum to the Supporting Statement for Form SSA-L3231-C1
Employer Verification of Records for Children Under Age 7
20 CFR 404.801-404.803, 404.821-404.822
OMB No. 0960-0505
Terms of Clearance
This ICR is approved consistent with SSA memo of 8/28/07.
The memo of 8/28/07 requested SSA explain why children under the age of seven would be working, and why SSA does not verify the earnings reported by most children (including those under age fourteen), if not all children. We also needed to explain why businesses are the primary respondents.
Per the attached memo, SSA provided the information summarized above for OMB. OMB approved the collection based on the information we provided on 8/28/07.
Revisions to the Collection Instrument
We are revising the PRA statement to reflect our current boilerplate language. The current language, which dates back to the last reprint of the form, is now outdated.
SSA's Office of the General Counsel is conducting a systematic review of SSA's Privacy Act Statements on agency forms. As a result, SSA is updating the Privacy Act Statement on this form.
