SHOWCARD INSTRUCTIONS

These Showcards are to be set up as an easel. The Showcards with the codes (numbers or letters that accompany the selections) and question numbers are to face you, the interviewer, and the Showcards without the codes and question numbers are to face the Respondent. Make sure that only you can see the Showcards with the codes so that the coding will not influence the Respondent’s selections. The Respondent will answer with his or her selection and you will find the corresponding answer on your Showcard. You will then locate the code associated with that selection, and find the answer with the corresponding code in the questionnaire. The answer on the Showcard may not always match up exactly with the answer in the questionnaire; however, the code on the Showcard will indicate which answer you should select. The reason for creating these additional selections on the Showcards is to make it easier for the respondent to find an answer that accurately depicts his or her situation. In addition, the order the responses appear on the cards may not be the same order the responses appear in the questionnaire, so please be careful when choosing a response in the questionnaire and be certain it is the respondent’s response.

Thank you and Good Luck!
