In January 2010 the UCR staff met with OMB on complying with race and ethnicity guidelines. From the outcome of this meeting it was concluded that the UCR Program did not have to collect multiple race because UCR data is observer collected data.
The 1110-0009 was sent to OMB for renewal prior to this meeting. On the race question it asked to mark all that is applicable. From the outcome of the meeting with OMB the UCR Program does not have to collect multiple race responses so the Program asked if it could make a change to remove the verbiage even though the form was in the renewal process. OMB tried to get the form changed but it was approved before the changes could be made and was suggested we make a non-substantive change to the form.
