Under Title 28, U.S. Code, Section 534, this collection requests Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted (LEOKA) data from local, state, tribal, and federal law enforcement agencies in order for the FBI UCR Program to serve as the national clearing house for collection and dissemination of LEOKA data.
US Code:
28 USC 534
Name of Law: Acquisition, Preservation, and Exchange of Identification Records; Appointment of Officials
There is no increase in burden on the individual respondents; however, the overall annual burden hours have decreased. A reduction from 114 to 84.5 is due to a decrease in the number of respondents. The number of respondents vary from year to year because the LEOKA Program only contacts respondents when a line-of-duty death/assault is reported. However, the total burden hours being requested has changed due to the addition of agency outreach and administrative burden hours to the total requested burden allotment. This addition increases the annual request burden allowance from 114 to 384.5 hours.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that the collection of information encompassed by this request complies with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR 1320.8(b)(3).
