Museums for America is the Institute’s largest grant program for museums and is designed to support projects and ongoing activities that build museums’ capacities to serve their communities.

In response to its legislative authority to conduct analysis on the impact and effectiveness of museum and library services (20 U.S.C. Chapter 72, Section 9108), IMLS proposes to assess the effectiveness of its Museums for America grant-making program.

The agency will be using this information gathered from this study to inform, refine, and improve the application process and agency grant-making.
