This survey is the third component of
an evaluation of NHVREI. This component will provide population
estimates for the general and highly impacted populations (African
American, Hispanic/Latino, and men who have sex with men [MSM])
regarding the proportion of individuals reporting awareness,
knowledge, and attitudes supportive of the development of methods
for preventing HIV (i.e., vaccine, microbicides, and PrEP). In
addition, the survey will identify concerns that deter
participation in clinical trials as well as other negative attitude
patterns that can be targeted by future educational efforts.
Information obtained will be used to guide future programs designed
to improve support for the development of HIV preventive
measures.
