Abstract: The objective of this proposed pretest is to test a survey instrument that will be used to collect data for measuring the preferences, and economic values, that United States (U.S.) residents have for providing additional protection (above current actions) to endangered Cook Inlet beluga whales. These preferences are currently not known. The pretest consists of conducting a small-scale mail survey of U.S. households that will collect information needed to evaluate the survey instrument and implementation plan.
