The Department needs this information
to process claims for payment from air carriers providing
subsidized essential air service. The Department uses this
information to verify, adjust, and settle these claims. Respondents
to this collection are commuter air carriers and generally small
certificated air carriers providing scheduled service.

There was an increase in burden
as a result of select air carriers having to provide service to
additional communities. Since two air carriers went
out-of-business, the service in which they provided was selected by
other air carriers currently receiving subsidy. Therefore, the
burden on the selected air carriers increased because they are
required to prepare claim forms for each additional community it
provides service.
