NEA grant categories. This information is necessary for the
accurate, fair, and thorough consideration of competing proposals
in the review process. Reporting requirements are necessary to
ascertain that grant projects have been completed and all terms and
conditions are met.

The Arts Endowment is committed
to supporting the arts in communities throughout the country and
engages in outreach activities to connect with, and make its
funding known to, underserved areas. Posting of our guidelines on
the agency's Web site and on Grants.gov has increased awareness of
and access to our funding opportunities for organizations and
individuals throughout the country. The current state of the
economy and the greater visibility focused on the NEA because of
its participation in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
have also contributed to an increase in applications. The NEA also
anticipates making more grant awards than at the time of its last
PRA submission, which will contribute to additional reports. The
increases in annual responses and hour burden above reflect this
projected increase in the number of both applications and grants we
anticipate annually during the next three years.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
