Who must comply?
Manufacturers of safety equipment, materials and marine sanitation devices (MSDs).
What is this collection about?
The information is needed to ensure compliance with U.S. regulations regarding lifesaving, electrical, engineering and navigation equipment, construction and materials, and MSDs.

When must information be submitted to the Coast Guard?
The information is submitted to the Coast Guard (CG) before the equipment, material or MSD is approved by the CG.  
How is the information submitted?
In writing or electronically via e-mail.  Information is submitted to the CG-ENG-4.  Contact info is below.  
What happens when complete information is received?
The information will be reviewed by the CG.  If the CG determines that the manufacturer has met the requirements, a Certificate of Approval (COA) is issued.
