Assessment
(PISA) 2009

focusing on young peoples’ abilities to
use their knowledge and skills to meet
real-life challenges in the future.
PISA provides a unique opportunity for
the United States to understand its
educational standing at the secondary
school level in comparison to other
nations. Findings from PISA are a
valuable tool in discussing ways to
improve reading, mathematics, and
science achievement for all students in
this country, by examining education
policies and practices world wide.
