Abstract: ONC is requesting Office of Management and Budget (OMB) approval of formative and process evaluation for the Comprehensive Communication Campaign for HITECH Act. As part of HITECH, Congress has mandated that HHS conduct public education and communication about the privacy and security issues and protections of electronic health information exchange. ONC is collaborating with the HHS Office of Civil Rights to oversee the education and communication activities. ONC has received American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds to cover 24 months of communication and education activities. ONC will be the day-to-day manager of the activities and is in the process of awarding a contract to conduct the education and communication work. After award, the contractor will require OMB clearance to carry out the formative and process evaluation tasks in the contract.
