Abstract: VA has responsibility for determining the compliance status of proprietary education institutions receiving Federal financial assistance under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. These laws prohibit discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin and sex. VA Form 20-4274 is used to determine a proprietary educational institution's compliance under these laws.
