Participants in the marine fishing
industry, including vessel owners, vessel operators, and fish
dealers, who wish to participate in regulated Northeast Regional
fisheries must apply for, and obtain, permits. Persons obtaining
permits may also be subject to notification, tagging, and other
requirements. We would like to reinstate the PRA burden associated
with 498 vessels submitting up to 18 requests per year for a Letter
of Authorization declaring that a vessel intended to fish south of
the Gulf of Maine (GOM) Regulated Mesh Area, which was was
inadvertently left out of that renewal package to ensure that the
burdens associated with FW 45 to the NE Multispecies Fishery
Management Plan - this was inadvertently left out of the last ICR
renewal.
