INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING THE ATTACHED
NATIONAL LEAFY GREEN VEGETABLE TECHNICAL REVIEW COMMITTEE/
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE NOMINATION FORM
BY PRODUCER/HANDLER
The National Leafy Green Vegetable Board (Board) administers the National Marketing Agreement
Regulating Leafy Green Vegetables (Agreement). Please complete the attached form if you wish to
nominate yourself and/or another eligible person for the Technical Review Committee and/or the
Research and Development Committee. Both are explained below.
Technical Review Committee
The Technical Review Committee is established for the purpose of assisting the Board in developing
audit metrics in § 970.67 of the Agreement, and any other function that the Board may recommend and
the Secretary of Agriculture (Secretary) approves.
The Technical Review Committee shall consist of one member from each zone. The zone representatives
may be a producer, a signatory handler, or any person with professional expertise related to food safety
technology and science as it relates to the production, handling, or manufacturing of leafy green
vegetables in the respective zone. In addition, there are two at-large seats. One member shall be a
certified organic producer and one member shall be a producer classified as a small business entity.
Research and Development Committee
The Research and Development Committee is established for the purpose of advising the Board in
carrying out its duties and responsibilities, as well as advising the Board in identifying research and
development activities authorized under § 970.75 of the Agreement.
The Research and Development Committee consist of two retailers; two foodservice operators, three
public representatives; and, two representatives from land grant universities with expertise in one aspect
of the fresh and fresh-cut vegetable industry (for example, but not limited to: production, handling, and
marketing of fresh and fresh-cut leafy green vegetables; small diversified, or organic production and
handling practices for fresh and fresh-cut produce; agricultural economics; produce food safety; or
educational outreach in the above-mentioned areas).
The completed Nomination Form must be postmarked, faxed, or hand-delivered to
____________________________________, no later than _____ p.m. on ________________, 20___ to
be valid. Multiple Nomination Forms may be submitted.
As Nomination forms are received, nominees will be notified of their nomination, and asked to complete
a National Leafy Green Vegetable Technical Review Committee/Research and Development Committee
Background Information form. All qualified nominees will be reported to the Secretary. A full copy of
