Justification for the Nonsubstantive Changes
We have changed the name of our website for appointed representatives from “Representing Claimants” to “Attorneys and Appointed Representatives.” We would like to change the form SSA-1696 to coincide with this change.
Change page 4, second column under the heading “Collecting a Fee,” second paragraph; and page 4, second column under the heading “Registering for Direct Fee Payment,” first paragraph from: “... our Representing Claimants website” to read: “…our Attorneys and Appointed Representatives website…”
Justification: This change will improve clarity and readability of the form, and coincides with the change of the name of the website.
