T ITLE OF INFORMATION COLLECTION: OPR Customer Outreach Education Survey


PURPOSE:

The survey will assist the IRS assess quality and impact of tax preparer outreach/educational investments and help to identify improvement opportunities. The survey results will serve as one of the Office of Professional Responsibility’s (OPR) Performance Measure(s). The key goals of this OPR information collection activity are 1) to survey our external customers on an ongoing basis regarding their satisfaction with OPR outreach/educational products and services, 2) monitor customer satisfaction progress over time, and 3) identify improvement opportunities including communication products and skills. The feedback received will not institute new policy, yet will enable the Service to improve upon and measure tax preparer’s educational needs as it relates to Circular 230 responsibilities.


DESCRIPTION OF RESPONDENTS:

Survey participants are tax preparers attending OPR outreach/educational events nationwide.


The OPR survey will be distributed and completed in person immediately following face-to-face outreach/educational events. Surveys for events conducted over the Internet will be distributed to registered attendees and returned via email.

The time that a respondent takes to complete the survey is carefully considered and only the most important areas are being surveyed. The average time of survey completion is expected to be less than 2 minutes. The time to voluntarily complete the survey will be included in the time planned to conduct the outreach/educational event.

Survey participants are tax preparers attending OPR outreach/educational events nationwide.


1) At the beginning of the outreach/educational session, surveys will be handed out by an OPR representative to the attendees. (If the event is over the internet, the survey will be emailed to registered participants)

2) Attendees will voluntarily complete and return the survey before leaving the session. (If the event was over the internet, survey responses will be emailed to OPR)

3) OPR will consolidate all responses into an excel spreadsheet for tracking purposes.

Instructions for completing Request for Approval under the “Generic Clearance for the Collection of Routine Customer Feedback”


TITLE OF INFORMATION COLLECTION: Provide the name of the collection that is the subject of the request. (e.g. Comment card for soliciting feedback on xxxx)


PURPOSE: Provide a brief description of the purpose of this collection and how it will be used. If this is part of a larger study or effort, please include this in your explanation.


DESCRIPTION OF RESPONDENTS: Provide a brief description of the targeted group or groups for this collection of information. These groups must have experience with the program.


TYPE OF COLLECTION: Check one box. If you are requesting approval of other instruments under the generic, you must complete a form for each instrument.


CERTIFICATION: Please read the certification carefully. If you incorrectly certify, the collection will be returned as improperly submitted or it will be disapproved.


Personally Identifiable Information: Provide answers to the questions. Note: Agencies should only collect PII to the extent necessary, and they should only retain PII for the period of time that is necessary to achieve a specific objective.


Gifts or Payments: If you answer yes to the question, please describe the incentive and provide a justification for the amount.


BURDEN HOURS:
