Part 22 contains the technical and legal requirements for radio stations operating in the Public Mobile Services. The information collected is used to determine on a case-by-case basis, whether or not to grant licenses authorizing construction and operation of wireless telecommunications facilities to common carriers. Further, this information is used to develop statistics about the demand for various wireless licenses and/or the licensing process itself, and occassionally for rule enforcement purposes.

The Commission is seeking OMB approval for a revision to this information collection because we have streamlined and eliminated outdated rule sections; eliminated rule requirements that are covered under other OMB control numbers, and eliminated rule sections that were part of this collection, but are not information collections, but instead are policies the Commission published in the public interest. Finally, any duplicate information collection were also removed from this IC.
