Part 22 contains the technical and
legal requirements for radio stations operating in the Public
Mobile Services. The information collected is used to determine on
a case-by-case basis, whether or not to grant licenses authorizing
construction and operation of wireless telecommunications
facilities to common carriers. Further, this information is used to
develop statistics about the demand for various wireless licenses
and/or the licensing process itself, and occassionally for rule
enforcement purposes.

The Commission is seeking OMB
approval for a revision to this information collection because we
have streamlined and eliminated outdated rule sections; eliminated
rule requirements that are covered under other OMB control numbers,
and eliminated rule sections that were part of this collection, but
are not information collections, but instead are policies the
Commission published in the public interest. Finally, any duplicate
information collection were also removed from this IC.
