Abstract: The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is responsible for responding to evolving national and global needs and priorities for scientific information on which to base natural resource management decisions. Understanding ecosystems and predicting ecosystem change requires robust scientific assessments and modeling of ecosystem conditions as climate and human-induced land changes occur. There is a need to catalog and describe the set of human activities that impact ecosystems. Effectively managing ecosystems requires communication of the results from those analyses in a form useful for decision makers. The intended goal of this information collection to generate case-studies of successful ecosystem services projects.
