National banks file Call Reports
pursuant to 12 U.S.C. 161 and other statutes. The data are used to
evaluate and monitor the financial condition and earnings
performance of individual banks as well as the entire banking
industry. The proposed changes would require savings associations
to cease filing the TFR and commence filing the Call Report
beginning with the March 2012 report date.
The increase in burden is due
to the integration of the Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS) into
the OCC on July 21, 2011 pursuant to the Dodd-Frank Act. As of July
21, 2011, all federal savings associations will no longer be
regulated by the OTS and will be regulated by the OCC.
