to gather information regarding the location of at sea of U.S.-flag
and certain foreign-flag ships for (1) Search and Rescue (SAR); and
(2) the marshalling of ships for national defense and safety
purposes.

U.S.-flag ships reporting to MARAD remains 183 since the last
Paperwork Reduction Act Submission. CG: The addition of the AMVER
voluntary participation element into this ICR is new, per OMB/OIRA
guidance.
