Agency Information Collection Activities: Form G-639; Extension=20
of an Existing Information Collection; Comment Request

ACTION: 60-Day Notice of Information Collection Under Review; Form G-
639, Freedom of Information/Privacy Act Request; OMB Control No. 1615-
0102.

    The Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and=20
Immigration Services (USCIS) will be submitting the following=20
information collection request for review and clearance in accordance=20
with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995. The information collection is=20
published to obtain comments from the public and affected agencies.=20
Comments are encouraged and will be accepted for sixty days until July=20
5, 2011.
    During this 60 day period, USCIS will be evaluating whether to=20
revise the Form G-639. Should USCIS decide to revise Form G-639 we will=20
advise the

public when we publish the 30-day notice in the Federal Register in=20
accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act. The public will then have=20
30 days to comment on any revisions to the Form G-639.
    Written comments and/or suggestions regarding the item(s) contained=20
in this notice, especially regarding the estimated public burden and=20
associated response time, should be directed to the Department of=20
Homeland Security (DHS), USCIS, Chief, Regulatory Products Division,=20
Office of the Executive Secretariat, Clearance Officer, 20=20
Massachusetts Avenue, NW., Washington, DC 20529-2020. Comments may also=20
be submitted to DHS via facsimile to 202-272-0997 or via e-mail at=20

submitting comments by e-mail, please make sure=20
to add OMB Control No. 1615-0102 in the subject box.

    Note:  The address listed in this notice should only be used to=20
submit comments concerning this information collection. Please do=20

    Written comments and suggestions from the public and affected=20
agencies concerning the collection of information should address one or=20
more of the following four points:
    (1) Evaluate whether the proposed collection of information is=20
necessary for the proper performance of the functions of the agency,=20
including whether the information will have practical utility;
    (2) Evaluate the accuracy of the agencies estimate of the burden of=20
the proposed collection of information, including the validity of the=20
methodology and assumptions used;
    (3) Enhance the quality, utility, and clarity of the information to=20
be collected; and
    (4) Minimize the burden of the collection of information on those=20
who are to respond, including through the use of appropriate automated,=20
electronic, mechanical, or other technological collection techniques or=20
other forms of information technology, e.g., permitting electronic=20
submission of responses.

Overview of this Information Collection

    (1) Type of Information Collection: Extension of an existing=20
information collection.
    (2) Title of the Form/Collection: Freedom of Information/Privacy=20
Act Request.
    (3) Agency form number, if any, and the applicable component of the=20
Department of Homeland Security sponsoring the collection: Form G-639;=20
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
    (4) Affected public who will be asked or required to respond, as=20
well as a brief abstract: Primary: Individuals or households. Form G-
639 is provided as a convenient means for persons to provide data=20
necessary for identification of a particular record desired under=20
Freedom of Information/Privacy Act (FOIA/PA).
    (5) An estimate of the total annual number of respondents and the=20
amount of time estimated for an average respondent to respond: 100,000=20
responses at 15 minutes per response.
    (6) An estimate of the total annual public burden (in hours)=20
associated with the collection: 25,000 annual burden hours.
