These standards specify physical
requirements for the VIN and its installation format and content to
simplify information retrieval and increase the efficiency of
defect recall campaigns and identify likely high theft
vehicles.
This is a reinstatement of a
previously approved information collection request. This clearance
request is a program change due to an estimated total annual
increase of 798,047 record keeping hours
