Under U.S.C. 18 section 923(g) ATF
requires a completed ATF F 5300.5 from person(s) involved in the
transactions of firearms. ATF uses the information for law
enforcement purposes to determine that the transaction is in
accordance with laws and regulations, and establishes the person(s)
involved in the transactions.
The burden hours reflect the
number of Federal Firearms Licensees (FFLs)that have been notified
by the Attorney General to report the required information. The
number is not constant as FFLs may go out of business during the
period the program is in place.
On behalf of this Federal agency, I certify that
the collection of information encompassed by this request complies
with 5 CFR 1320.9 and the related provisions of 5 CFR
1320.8(b)(3).
