Abstract: The FCC must be able to contact its licensees and permittees in a communications emergency. The Commission through its newly-form Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau is now updating the previously approved approved Emergency Contact Information form witha Disaster Information Reporting System (DIRS) that uses an electronic screen that participants may complete using an Internet-based graphical user interface. The Commission is updating the process by increasing the number of reporting entities to ensure inclusion of wireless, wireline, broadcast, cable and satellite companies. We will also collect emergency contact information for federal, state and local emergency management entities. This will provide the Commission with up-to-date emergency contact and other important information during an emergency event. The Commission now seeks OMB approval for a revision. In recent years, communications has evolved from a circuit-switched network infrastructure to broadband networks. The Commission is seeking to extend the DIRS to include new respondents to this collection - interconnected Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and brodband Internet Service Providers.

Short Statement: The change in burden is due to an increase in the number of respondents/responses. This new group of respondents that now may voluntarily report in DIRS includes interconnected Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and broadband Internet Service Providers. Therefore, the FCC is reporting a program change increase of 1,015 hours.
