Chronic wasting disease (CWD) in cervids is typified by chronic weight loss leading to death resulting in significant economic and market losses to the U.S. This collection is a means to manage the herds to prevent further spread of the disease.
US Code:
7 USC 8301
Name of Law: Animal Health Protection Act
Overall, the burden hours decreased 242,066 hours from 399,602 hours to 157,536 hours. The responses also decreased 104,860 responses from 150,002 responses to 45,142 responses. These changes resulted from Lab Submission being added to the collection, becuase that step in the process was overlooked in the last submission (+3,200 hours). All other burden items were adjusted to better reflect what is going to be collected based on more recent data and APHIS' new approach to this new porgram.
