Abstract: This standard requires employers to train workers about the hazards of asbestos, monitor worker exposure, provide medical surveillance, and maintain accurate records of worker exposure to asbestos. These records are used by employers, workers and the Government to ensure that workers are not harmed by exposure to asbestos in the workplace.

Short Statement: The Agency has identified an administrative error of 535 hours in the number of burden hours in the inventory. The number appears as 4,957,804; however, the Agency finds that the total hours should have been 4,957,269. For purposes of this ICR, the Agency is requesting a burden hour adjustment decrease of 28,010 (from 4,957,804 to 4,929,794 hours). Using updated data and the fact that much of the remediation of asbestos products has likely taken place; the Agency estimates a decrease in employment from 1,631,752 workers to 1,595,083 workers. Also, the current number of covered employers has decreased from 1,276,353 to 1,247,671.
