Who must comply?

Airport operators regulated under 49 CFR Part 1542 and aircraft operators regulated under 49 CFR Part 1544

What is this collection about?

This information collection requires that airport operators maintain records of criminal history records checks and security threat assessments in compliance with 49 CFR Part 1542 and a related security directive for those employees with access privileges to security identification display areas of the airport. This information collection also requires the same records to be maintained by aircraft operators in compliance with 49 CFR Part 1544 for selected crew and security employees.

For airport operators, 49 CFR, § 1542.101; 49 CFR, § 1542.103(a); 49 CFR, § 1542.205; 49 CFR, § 1542.209; Security Directive 1542-04-08G; and the TSA approved Airport Security Program. For aircraft operators, 49 CFR, § 1544.101; 49 CFR, § 1544.103; 49 CFR, § 1544.229; 49 CFR, § 1544.230; 49 CFR, § 1544.231; and the Aircraft Operator Standard Security Program.

When must information be submitted to the TSA?

Information must be submitted to TSA upon request or during a review of compliance with the program requirements through routine onsite inspections, assessments, and tests.

How is the information submitted?

The information must be submitted in accordance with the regulations. Airport and aircraft operators may submit information to a TSA representative during a review of compliance.

What happens when complete information is received?

TSA will determine compliance with the program requirements through routine on-site inspections, assessments, and tests by examining the records submitted by the aircraft operators.
